Tamarack Editions began in the late 1970s as a limited edition fine letterpress publisher of poetry. For almost a decade this remained the primary focus of the press, although occasional full-length collections of poetry were released, such as R. T. Smith's Rural Route. During this time Tamarack published relatively unknown poets along with chapbooks by well-known poets, including two by Hayden Carruth, The Mythology of Dark and Light and Mother, and Jack Gilbert's Kochan. In 1986 Tamarack published two full-length volumes, Birch Light by R. T. Smith and Toads in a Poisoned Tank by George Drew. These early publications are all out of print but may be found at various used book services, such as Bookfinder.
After twenty years, Tamarack Editions has been resurrected as Tamarack Editions, LLC, and will resume publication of full-length collections of poetry. At the outset, poetry collections will be by invitation only, and it anticipates publishing two collections each year. The first two volumes, currently available, are American Cool by George Drew and Allen Hoey's Once Upon a Time at Blanche's.
Tamarack Editions is pleased to announce two new titles available in 2010: Looking Into The Machinery: The Selected Longer Poems of Jared Smith, and Detour, poems by Nancy White.
Currently, all submissions are by invitation only.
